Event Details

Intimate Partner Violence affects all communities.  For many victims, their church is the first point of contact when seeking help.  The Cherokee County Domestic Violence Task Force is pleased to present this free training to members of the Faith Community in observance of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. 

 

The goal of the training is to educate local faith leaders on their role in domestic violence.  Faith leaders can expect to leave this training, with a better understanding of how to hold the batterer accountable for their abuse while ensuring victim safety. 

 

The event will feature guest speakers Greg Loughlin, the Interim Executive Director of the Georgia Commission on Family Violence and Co-Chair for the Bishop’s Task Force on Domestic Violence for the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta, Pat Merchant, the Co-Chair for the Bishop’s Task Force on Domestic Violence for the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta, and Cherokee Family Violence Center Staff Members.

 

The multi-media presentation will include discussion and Q&A.  A toolkit and resources for use in your community will be provided to all individuals that R.S.V.P. for the event.   Lunch will be provided to the first 100 individuals to R.S.V.P. for this event.

 

This free event is hosted by Woodstock Community Church and is open to attendees of all faith backgrounds.  Woodstock Community Church is located at 237 Rope Mill Rd.  Woodstock, GA 30188.

 

Funding for this event has been made possible through the US Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs and the Office for Victims’ of Crime through a Community Awareness Projects grant.

The Cherokee County Domestic Violence Task Force’s vision is to strengthen and sustain the  coordinated community response to family violence in Cherokee County, Georgia.

The Cherokee County Domestic  Violence Task Force will accomplish this by:
• Increasing perpetrator accountability
• Enhancing victim safety
• Promoting systemic change by  providing ongoing and evolving education and awareness to the community at large.
